This is not an entry-level weapon, as is evidenced by its $1599 price tag and the fact that you can feel the quality when its sitting in your hand. With a clean weight of just 4.4 lbs, the Rapide Scorpious has a stainless steel construction and two-tone design giving it something a a sub-zero appeal when it comes to coolness.
Just like its stablemate – the Black ICE – offers lots of aesthetic value, but that’s not the only place this weapon excels. The Rapide Scorpius also does what it was designed for – delivering hard-hitting power – rather well.
What Makes the Rapide Scorpius Peform Well?
What allows the Kimber Rapide Scorpius to deliver this great stopping power? Well, to begin with, owners of this weapon get a sturdy 5-inch, stainless steel, match grade barrell. It has a black DLC coat that offers a low friction coefficient, allowing for easy manipulation.
When looking at the muzzle, you see that it’s bored and crowned, also featuring a match grade bushing, an 18.5 pound spring and guiderod.
An Aluminum Trigger With a V-Cut Design
When you’re actually using this Kimber handgun – something we did before writing this article – it’s evident that there are a number of features that make using this gun enjoyable. First of all is the aluminum trigger, that has a nice V-cut design and a slightly curved face. This is a design that’s unique to this handgun, and not something most other 1911s will have.
The more spacious area behind the trigger guard also allows for a better and more relaxed finger position, permitting the user to get more consistent shots away.
The Kimber Rapide Scorpius Would Grace Anyone’s Collection
Without wanting to put too fine a point on it, this Kimber handgun has it all. It looks incredible, fires well and while it’s not the cheapest on the market, it’s far from being the most expensive either. Sure, it’s about three times the price of standard 9mm self defense options.
It’s also got the power and precison that offers great reassurance in what is today, quite a dangerous world we live in. Not many guns offer both sublime looks and excellent performance, but we think that in the Rapide Scorpius it’s good enough to be known for both.
