He was also an accomplished cricketer and was part of the St. Xavier’s cricket team. Sheikh made his debut in Hindi cinema in 1973 with the film ‘Garm Hava’. He went on to act in several other films, including ‘Chitchor’ (1976), ‘Noorie’ (1979), ‘Shatranj Ke Khilari’ (1977), ‘Kissi Se Na Kehna’ (1983) and ‘Kamla Ki Maut’ (1989). He also hosted several popular television shows such as ‘Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai’ and ‘Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai 2’.
