    Andrew Litton: Royal Philharmonic Orchestra

    Andrew Litton is an internationally acclaimed American conductor and pianist, best known for his work with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO). His musical career has taken him around the world, performing a wide range of classical music with some of the world’s greatest orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic.

    Andrew Litton’s Musical Journey

    Andrew Litton began his musical journey at the age of five when he began studying piano. He went on to study at the Juilliard School of Music in New York, where he honed his skills as a conductor. After graduating, he went on to conduct numerous orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic. He has also served as the music director of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, the Minnesota Orchestra, and the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra in Norway.

    In 2002, he was appointed music director of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, a position he still holds today. Through his work with the RPO, he has become a champion of the music of British composers, including Elgar, Britten, and Vaughan Williams. He has also commissioned numerous new works by living composers, including Mark-Anthony Turnage and John Adams.

    Celebrating the Music of Andrew Litton

    Andrew Litton’s work with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra has been celebrated around the world. He has conducted the orchestra on numerous tours and recordings, including a series of critically acclaimed recordings of Elgar’s Enigma Variations and Vaughan Williams’ A London Symphony. He has also led the orchestra in numerous performances of contemporary works, including John Adams’ Harmonielehre and Mark-Anthony Turnage’s Blood on the Floor.

    In addition to his work with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Litton has also recorded numerous solo piano works and chamber music. His recordings have been nominated for Grammy Awards, and he has been honored with numerous awards for his work as a conductor.

    Andrew Litton’s work with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra has been instrumental in bringing the music of British composers to a wider audience. His recordings and performances have been praised around the world, and his commitment to new music has ensured that the orchestra continues to be at the forefront of classical music.
